11 ways to put yourself first

Feeling stressed and anxious lately because of work, school, or home tasks? We sometimes get lost in all the things we need to do, and we forget to take care of ourselves too! Why not give yourself permission to put yourself first? Live healthy and improve your overall health and wellness by taking good care of yourself with these easy habits:

  1. Make the time to take care of yourself and practice good hygiene. 
  2. Connect with yourself, others, and your community. Spend time with people who bring you joy.
  3. Laugh at least once a day. Studies show that laughing alleviates pain and can reduce stress.
  4. Take a break when you need it. Use your sick leave.
  5. Develop a regular sleep routine. 
  6. Go for a walk, run or a light jog and exercise before / after work regularly.
  7. Meditate or do deep breathing for five minutes.
  8. Aim for a healthy diet by eating greens daily. Avoid emotional eating.
  9. Do something you enjoy and expand your social network with those who share the same interests. 
  10. Do something you've always wanted to do and learn something new daily.
  11. Set aside your to-do list for now reconnect with yourself and what you really want out of your life.
